Engineer 1
Location: Papé Family Innovation Center at the Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact in Eugene, OR.
Duration/Period: Full-time.
Compensation: $65-70k with equity split available.
POSITION SUMMARY
Penderia Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Engineer 1 responsible for product development activities of Penderia’s novel implantable sensor technology in orthopedic procedures. The candidate will work with the Penderia scientific team to transfer feasible concepts into commercial products. The role will include exploring research and development tasks for both mechanical and electrical aspects of design, assisting in design reviews, building prototyping, and testing.
PRINCIPAL GOALS
- Complete mechanical and electronics assembly (3D printing, circuit board assembly, sensor prototyping)
- Prepare test protocols and reports for research and device design history file development
- Collaborate on preclinical testing and analysis, often including animal models and human cadaver labs
- Use programming skills (C++, Python) to perform data analysis and design optimization
- Design and build fixturing as needed, using SolidWorks CAD software
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s or higher in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 6 months – 1 year of related experience
- Related experience can include undergraduate lab research, internships, and engineering technician roles
Required Skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to present to internal audiences such as the project team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office with the ability to write technical reports
- Experience in Microsoft Excel and Python to process and present test data
- Proficiency with CAD software (Pro/E, Creo, or SolidWorks)
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines with guidance from leadership
- Perform duties in compliance with applicable FDA and state regulations as well as standards including, but not limited to, ISO 13485
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a lab setting requiring use of standard PPE including gloves, lab coat, and eye protection.
- Must be able to handle small parts and tools, perform fine assembly work, and occasionally lift or move items up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to work in an environment that involves exposure to chemicals such as isopropyl alcohol, soldering paste, and biological materials including human or animal tissue, following established safety procedures.
